According to dictionary.com a blog or weblog is a journal written on-line and accessible to users of the Internet (dictionary.com). There are personal blogs, business blogs, organization blogs, and education blogs. Blogs can be public, meaning all Internet users can access them, or private, meaning that the blog creator manages who can view the blog. The privacy settings make blogging great for the classroom because the teacher can ensure that only the students and families are able to view the blog.

Blogging in the classroom is a great way for students, parents, and teachers to share information.Students can access an assignment via blog and respond to the questions right on the blog. They will also be able to view their classmate's responses to see answers from another point of view and provide feedback to what they have read. Teachers can set up the blog so that students' answers have to be approved by the teacher before their answers are appropriate and correct in grammar, spelling, and content before others can view them. Blogging is also a great way to allow the teacher to update parents on the happenings in the classroom. Parents can read what is going on and respond instantly. Parents can also communicate with each other, which makes blogging great for organizing class events such as a holiday party. It is a good resource to establish a home-school connection.
